We offer facet joint injections that are a targeted, image-guided procedure where a mixture of a local anaesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication is injected directly into a spinal (facet) joint.

At United Radiology Clinics Melbourne,  the Facet Joint injection appointment generally takes approximately 15–30 minutes, including preparation, imaging, administration of the injection, and a short recovery observation period.

Are Facet Joint Injections bulk-billed?

Bulk billing is available for all eligible patients with a valid Medicare card and referral.

Post appointment Care

Following your Facet Joint injection at United Radiology in Melbourne, you may experience temporary numbness or mild soreness at the injection site. Most patients can walk immediately after the procedure. You should avoid driving on the day of the injection and gradually resume normal activities the following day. Rest and gentle activity are advised, and any unexpected symptoms should be discussed with your clinician.
