These procedures may be considered for a range of conditions, including arthritis, tendon-related pain, and sports injuries. Our team provides a personalised, patient-centred approach, working closely with your referring practitioner to ensure appropriate care.
What to expect
Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal and joint injections use real-time imaging to accurately guide a fine needle into the affected joint, tendon, or soft tissue. The skin is cleaned and a local anaesthetic may be used to improve comfort before the medication is delivered to the targeted area.
How long does the procedure take?
At United Radiology Melbourne, most ultrasound-guided joint injections are relatively quick, typically taking 15–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. You may be asked to remain at the clinic briefly afterwards for observation before going home.
Is this procedure bulk-billed?
Bulk billing is available for all eligible patients with a valid Medicare card and referral.Out of pocket costs will apply for non- medicare card holders. Please contact your nearest United Radiology clinic for fees.
